For the past five years my husband and I have been extremely lucky to live on a street where we not only know our neighbors names but we call them friends. It’s one thing to have nice neighbors, it’s a BLESSING to have a fantastic, loving, funny family attached to you. We live in a duplex which means you need to have awesome neighbors. I am hear to tell you that I have the best neighbors! Meet Brian, Kaitlynn, Isabelle (or Bells) and Grace. Sweetest, cutest girls you’ll ever meet. If I could record their laughter and play it with this blog post, I would. It’s infectious. Hopefully you see the laughter in these images. Oh! And don’t forget the pups, they’re family too! Basil is the short haired mutt and Daisy is the special, goofy yellow lab.
I’ve taken photos of my neighbors like cute peach picking photos last summer. We haven’t officially done a family session until now. It was such a pleasure to capture my dear neighbors. After looking through the images it almost appeared to be two separate mini shoots and so that is how I edited the photos. You’ll start off at the Dykes home with some candid black and white images and you’ll end at a local farm nearby our house where the girls danced in fields, picked flowers and studied a bird egg.
Kaitlynn & Brian- the day one of us decides to move will be extremely sad, although I know we’ll be friends for life. It’s been a pleasure watching your family grow and I absolutely loved documenting your love and joy. I hope you enjoy the photos. …And I’ll be over in a few minutes to borrow an egg. 😉
If you follow my blog I’m sure you’ve caught on to my style, especially with editing. Typically my years in photojournalism school take over and I edit to portray reality- so colors are typically true to themselves or a lot of my images are in black and white. However, certain shoots do lend me to do more of a stylistic edit. Two precious girls in blue dresses running through fields lead me to edit in this softer, muted pink, film look. I love how it turned out and feel like it added to the photos and the moments. I hope you enjoy the different look of these images.
