Kendall Tsuei is a beautiful, intelligent, hard-working, determined and confident young woman who is definitely going places. Reading through her senior questionnaire and chatting with her during our photo shoot I was so impressed by Kendall. I’ve actually know Kendall for about 10 years and it’s so awesome to see how she has matured and grown into a wonderful person. (Maybe it had something to do with her amazing parents, Tim and Lisa!)
Kendall is graduating this Spring from St. Stephens Academy. She’s a fantastic runner and was on the cross country team and track teams. A distance runner at heart- she holds school records in the 5k, 3k and 1500. She told me in the car ride the records won’t stay around for long as she has been mentoring a freshman friend and Kendall knows this youngster will take her records out. That shows you the type of person she is- humbled and willing to help others. Kendall was also elected into the school council and has competed with the mock trial team since her sophomore year. I loved what Kendall wrote about what she would miss the most about high school; “I’m going to miss my teachers, several of whom have become some of my greatest friends. I can’t communicate the immensity of the care they have poured into my life as a scholar, an individual, and a Christian.”
On to bigger things… literally… Kendall will head to the big state of Texas in the fall where she will attend Baylor University. Kendall said, “I will study in the Business Fellows program and the honors program, majoring in economics and English with a minor in business journalism and concentration in professional writing.” As I mentioned earlier- determined and confident! Kendall will thrive at Baylor.
For our photo session, we started off in the Hoyt Arboretum. It was foggy and her and I both agreed that it was perfect for some moody photos. It will be nice to take images full of lush greenery with her to Baylor as I’m sure she’ll miss the beauty of the Northwest. We ended the photo shoot at one of her all time favorite places, Powells Books. Kendall loves a good book, especially poetry and anything out of the Literary History/Journalism Memoir section.
Kendall- It was a pleasure documenting this special time in your life. I wish you nothing but the best. Good luck in all your endeavors. And eat some Aaron Franklin BBQ for me while you’re in the Longhorn state. 😉 I hope you enjoy the photos.
