I have had the wonderful pleasure of being Kate’s swim coach for three years (soon to be four). In fact I’ve known the entire Callahan family for five years now and I must say that they are the nicest family and Kate is a wonderful young woman. I was thrilled that she asked me to be her senior photographer. I try to find unique places that fit the senior’s personality. During my scouting drives I always pass this set of swings out in the country. I’ve been tempted for about two years now to pull into the driveway and ask the owners if I can use their swings for a photo shoot. It wasn’t until I thought about Kate’s Senior Session that I finally got up the nerve to ask. (Of course they said yes!) It may sound kind of silly but I thought swings represented her- she’s fun, a little silly, easy-going like the swing and sturdy and strong like structure. I had a great time photographing her not only on the swings but walking down country roads, playing in leaves, and spinning in front of old barns.
Kate is a talented swimmer…her breaststroke is beautiful. She will join Sunset Swimming this year for her fourth and final year. (I’m trying not to be sadden by the fact that this is my last year with a Callahan on the team). Kate lifeguards and teaches swim lessons at the Sunset Athletic Club. She plays on the Sunset Rec. Co-Ed Soccer team and is involved with her church group. Kate is also the yearbook editor this year. Miss Kate would like to study nursing next year. See- doesn’t she sound simply wonderful? 🙂
Kate- You’re a pleasure to coach and it’s been a joy watching you grow into the awesome lady that you are. You will definitely be missed next year… but I won’t dwell on the future yet… let’s enjoy one last year of High School Swimming together. Enjoy your senior year and best of luck to you in all your endeavors. I hope you enjoy the photos.
