Portland Senior Photographer- Nina

It’s the time of year where senior portrait sessions start to fill my blog.  I love this time of year (although it means summer is ending).   I probably have a little more fun than your typical photographer because majority of my seniors are also my swimmers.  I am the assistant swim coach at Sunset High School.  I get to see these wonderful kids come in as freshman and grow into amazing adults.  I get to witness their changes over the years and watch them improve at their sport.  Finally I get to photograph them and capture their personality that I have watched the past few years.  I think it’s fun for them as well to see a camera around my neck rather than a stop watch.  Needless to say I was super excited that Nina asked me to do her senior portraits.  Love this girl.  She is super sweet and funny and has an awesome personality…not to mention she’s one the best female swimmers in the state of Oregon.

Nina wanted a city session for her senior photos.  We made a quick stop at the Audubon Center for a few woodsy shots and then we made our way down into the Pearl District.  Nina was a blast to photograph and my shutter went crazy every time she laughed.  Everyone can laugh but not everyone will get wet!  I was taking shots of Nina at Jaimeson Park and her mom mentioned that she should sit in the water.  There was zero hesitation.  In hind sight it doesn’t surprise me- swimmers LOVE the water even if they are clothed.  We had a lot of fun at the end of our shoot playing in water, which I think was perfect because it’s where Nina feels at home (even if it was missing lane lines and chlorine).

Nina- it’s been a pleasure watching you swim and being your “coach” 😉   There has been a “Stitt” swimming for Sunset since I started and after you graduate I can say that you and your entire family will be missed.  I wish you the best of luck with your senior year, your last high school swim season and all of your life endeavors.  I hope you enjoy the photos.
