Well June 13th went off without a hitch. Do you remember Kim & Kris and how they met on Friday the 13th and got engaged on September 13th? Of course the had to have their wedding on the 13th as well. It’s their love number! Some people say it’s an unlucky number but these two defended the infamous thirteen with a beautiful, perfect wedding day.
The ceremony and reception was at the historic Balch Hotel. The setting was surrounded by a vast open space but the couple was surrounded by their closest family and friends who traveled east to Dufur, Oregon to witness Kim & Kriss tie the knot. Literally. K & K did not do the traditional unity candle or unity sand. Instead they tied a Fisherman’s Knot, a true lover’s knot. The Fisherman’s Knot will not break and it becomes stronger under pressure. A true representation of Kim & Kris’s commitment to one another.
After the ceremony the guests and the happily married couple headed across the lawn to the reception. There were yard games, a photo booth, hors d’oeuvres and like any good country wedding… beer. Everyone received special beer koozies to keep their hands warm and to commemorate the fun night. There was a lovely dinner, funny toasts and cake cutting. As the sun set behind Mt. Hood we took a break from dancing and snuck away to capture a few intimate moments of the bride and groom. Once the sun completely vanished Kim & Kris punctuated their wedding night with another fantastic ceremony, lighting and releasing a sky lantern. The couple made a wish (I’m sure for a lifetime of bliss or 13 healthy babies) and liberated the glowing lantern into the midnight sky.
Of course I also wish for a lifetime of bliss for you two! Kim & Kris, it was a pleasure photographing your wedding. Thank you for allowing me to capture this special day. I hope you enjoy the photos.
